Integrated Waste Management Project (IWMP)

Armenia currently lacks a waste management system that adheres to any sanitary standard. AEN is currently developing partnerships that will allow for the development of an environmentally-friendly landfill site in a pilot village.
At the heart of the IWMP is an integrated picking and sorting program for recyclable materials–providing jobs for the local community–and an environmental education component that teaches the core environmental tenets of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”. We plan for the public outreach and awareness campaign to also include an organic composting program to promote community gardening.
EcoBags Project

Through our EcoBags project, we aim to replace the use of plastic bags with an environmentally-friendly alternative that provides work for local women. We are in the final stages of selecting a community partner and will be moving forward in early 2012 to develop bag designs and an education and marketing campaign.
