2012 Persephone Miel Fellowship for journalists outside the U.S.

Apply now for the 2012 Persephone Miel Fellowship, which provides opportunities for journalists outside the U.S. to expand their reporting and reach new audiences. Overseen by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, in collaboration with Internews, the Fellowship honors Persephone Miel, a pioneering advocate of high-quality international reporting.

Persephone worked with Internews for many years, and established guidelines for the Fellowship before her passing in 2010.  Learn more about Persephone and the Fellowship.

The fellowship is designed to help media professionals outside of the United States do the kind of reporting they’ve always wanted to do, and enable them to bring their work to a broader international audience. The fellowship benefits those with limited access to other fellowships or international distribution of their work.

Central Eurasia Leadership Academy (CELA) Summer Workshop, Istanbul, 17-27 July 2012

The Central Eurasia Leadership Academy is now accepting applications to its 2012 Regional Leadership Workshop atKoç University, Istanbul. CELA was launched in 2002 as a major initiative to bring together the region’s most dynamic mid-career leaders with character, initiative and strategic vision in the fields of business, civil society and government. AEN Chapter Organizers – in various U.S. cities

The Armenian Environmental Network (AEN) is looking for individuals interested in establishing AEN U.S. chapters in their area.  AEN regional chapters will help to serve AEN’s mission by holding local events that promote environmental education and involvement of the Diaspora. These chapters are vital to establishing a network of Armenian environmentalists interested in a sustainable future for Armenia.

AEN is a fiscally sponsored project of Earth Island Institute, a 501(c)(3) based in Berkeley, California. AEN’s program administration is headquartered in Washington D.C. with a program operations office in Yerevan, Armenia.

Specific Responsibilities:

- Work with AEN Executive Director to organize educational events

- Identify local partners, fundraise and recruit new members

- Provide logistics and communications assistance for events in chapter area

- Serve as AEN representative or “point person” in chapter region

- Manage and account for all expenses for chapter events

- Report to and regularly communicate with AEN Executive Director

- Assist with media outreach in the region

Qualifications:

- Self-motivator who can work independently

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

- Responsible and trustworthy

- Commitment to AEN’s mission

- Interest in engaging the Armenian community and environmentalists in the region

Chapters enjoy much programmatic autonomy in creating and coordinating local events, but programs and activities must generally conform to AEN’s mission to promote environmental awareness among the Armenian Diaspora.

Time Commitment: This position does not have a specific time commitment but it is expected that Chapter Organizers will allocate a minimum of 2 hours per week, or a total of 8 hours per month, to AEN events and activities. Average time commitment will vary based on the frequency of events in the chapter region.
